Visitors in front of Lindt Chocolate Museum in Zurich, Switzerland

Lindt Chocolate Museum Tour in Zurich, Switzerland

So, we finally arrived! After we got off the train, we looked for the ticket booth to purchase our tram tickets to go to the hotel because we also had a Lindt Chocolate Museum tour in Zurich, Switzerland on that same day. We found it inside the train station in front of the Asian restaurant. After we purchased the tickets, we had to look for the tram platform and we went a few circles around the blocks because we were confused and we couldn’t find it. Turned out, it was very close to the train station where we came from. Ugh.

Tram Ticket

Our tram ticket to the hotel had a time limit! Check the zones and time carefully. My husband noticed it… ’cause I didn’t bother to read the ticket. I’m just here tagging along (insert smiley). Despite travel tips, it was confusing for first-timers like us. Luckily, we had two hours left, and the hotel was just 15 minutes away. From the tram stop, we had to walk to our hotel for 2-3 minutes.

Hotel Arrival in Zurich

When we arrived at the hotel, we had a little chat with the receptionist. We told her about the tram and tickets story. She told us about the SBB app and volunteered to help download the app onto my husband’s phone, and also explained how it works and everything. She was awesome, thanks to her! After we dropped off our duffel bags in our room, we were in a hurry to get to the tram platform to catch the schedule because we only had a few minutes left on the ticket.

Glattpark Tram and Train Ride to Lindt Chocolate Museum Zurich, Switzerland

From our hotel in Glattpark, we walk 2-3 minutes to the tram platform to catch Tram 10 going to Oerlikon train station. The Glattpark tram ride to Oerlikon was only 5 minutes. From Oerlikon, we took the S24 train going to Kilchberg ZH train station and got off there. The train ride from Oerlikon station to Kilchberg was 18-25 minutes depending on the time of the day you travel. Then, we walked to the Lindt Museum. Most of the people that got off the train were going to the museum also.

The Walk to the Lindt Chocolate Museum

When we got off the train, we had to walk very fast (almost running) because the tour would be closed at 5 pm their time and we only had a few minutes left to get there. Kind of an exhausting day, but this is what makes the travel fun.

Thankfully, we arrived there on time. Before we fell in line, I had to put my purse in the lockers provided for the guests. You cannot bring bags, purses, or luggage while on tour. And by the way, we booked our Lindt Chocolate Museum tour online a few months ahead. On their website, they also suggest you book the ticket in advance because their tour is always sold out.

The Tour

The tour is guided with interactive audio in your language which is kind of cool. When you point the handheld audio device to the whisk on the table, it will tell you the detailed history of that specific illustration that was on the table. You don’t have to point the device to the whisk always if you want to. You can just look around, but if you want to know the history of Swiss chocolate, you have to listen to it. It was very interesting.

Lindt Chocolate Museum Tour Free-Tasting and Samples

The tour at Lindt Chocolate Museum in Zurich, Switzerland also includes liquid chocolate tasting, chocolate bar samples, and free chocolates. I love all the liquid chocolate especially, the white chocolate, I had a few spoons of it. It was good and also my favorite among the rest. I can say the texture and flavors were high-quality. The bar chocolates were good also, it was in the same room but in different machines.

When we came out of the chocolate tasting room, there was a bar waiting full of free chocolates. Yay! The person behind the bar told us to only take one sample per person but the other guests took more. My husband and I, of course, only took one piece each.

After the Tour

We went to the ground floor to check out their shop. There were so many varieties of chocolates we couldn’t get in the States are in there, I want them all! But, our course, I can’t have it all. We bought some though, and sat outside to try some of the free chocolates we got. I love them all except the peppermint. I was never a fan of peppermint.

We were about to head back to the hotel and I noticed something was missing. It was my purse and still in the locker! Our passports were in that purse! We had to hurry back in before they closed. And, I got my purse. Good thing my husband told me to take a photo of the locker number because I might have forgotten which locker I put it in.

We head back to the train station the same way we came. The Lindt Chocolate Museum in Zurich is 10-15 walking distance from the train station. On the way, we stopped by to eat dinner at the main train station and bought some Swiss wine to bring to the hotel.

Closing Tips

The Zurich HB or main train station has so many stores, restaurants, and shops. It’s kind of a shopping center also. but attached to a train hub. I would like to add also that I love the trams in Switzerland.

We celebrated our first day in Zurich with the free Lindt chocolates (bahah!) and Swiss wine. It was fun!
