Blood Orange Nemesia Plant: Attractive and Vibrant
Nemesia is a charming and colorful plant often used in garden beds, containers, and hanging baskets. This Blood Orange Nemesia plant has a beautiful combination of red, orange, and yellow hues, which are typical of certain Nemesia cultivars.
This plant caught my attention immediately while we were at the nursery because of its bright and bold flowers. I just had to get it.

I learned that there are other varieties of Nemesia. This one is called Sunsatia Blood Orange. It has fiery red, orange, and yellow blooms. These varieties are known for their warm-toned, bi-colored flowers and trailing growth habit, making them excellent for pots and hanging baskets.
About Blood Orange Nemesia Plant
This variety is a mix of red, orange, and yellow hues colors. They bloom from Spring through fall and thrive in cooler temperatures. Some varieties have a light fragrance and the pollinators are attracted to the flowers.
If you’re growing this plant, regular deadheading will help prolong blooming, and keeping the soil evenly moist will ensure healthy growth!
For People Who Love Gardening But Live in Small Spaces
Yes, you can grow Nemesia in pots. It grows beautifully in pots and containers. Infact, planting it in a pot is a great way to control soil quality and drainage while adding a burst of color to patios, balconies, or windowsills.
How to Grow Nemesia in a Pot
Use a container with drainage holes to prevent root rot. A pot at least 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) deep is ideal for small varieties, but larger ones may need more space.
Use Well-Draining Soil which is a light, well-draining potting mix would work best. You can also mix in perlite or sand for extra drainage.
Place the pot in full sun to partial shade (at least 4-6 hours of sunlight daily). If you live in a hot climate, provide afternoon shade to prevent stress for they could also turn brown.

Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Avoid overwatering, as Nemesia doesn’t like sitting in wet soil.
Fertilize every 2-3 weeks during blooming season. I use this fertilizer on all of my flowering plants.
Deadhead withered or dried blooms to encourage continuous flowering. If the plant gets leggy, trim it back by one-third to encourage bushier growth.
Bring the potted Nemesia inside during the winter and place it in a warm place inside your house.
Nemesia is an annual plant. Therefore, they are sensitive to cold. I really love this plant but they don’t last long. It’s very attractive even if it’s mixed with different flowers. I enjoyed the vibrant blooms until the last week of August.
